Anchor Project:

Helping children heal through love and creativity

What is the Anchor Project:

The ANCHOR project is a comprehensive initiative that empowers children and adolescents, promoting their emotional, physical, and social well-being through workshops on emotional education, self-care, and resilience. It also strengthens educators and families with tools to prevent abuse and violence, especially child sexual abuse and sex trafficking. ANCLA seeks to build a sustainable network of protective environments and adults committed to child safety and well-being, generating a positive impact on communities.

Objectives of the Anchor Project:

  • Expand the project’s reach to all educational institutions, beginning in Antioquia and surrounding municipalities by 2025, prioritizing communities with high child vulnerability, expanding to the rest of the country and globally.
  • Train all teachers and educators at partner institutions in child abuse prevention and the creation of safe classrooms within one year.
  • Implement workshops and talks on emotional education and self-care, benefiting 1,000 children and adolescents within one year.
  • Inform at least 50% of parents or caregivers about preventive actions and protective parenting strategies after the workshops.
  • Develop outreach strategies to raise awareness about child abuse prevention and protection in the communities served.

Workshops Include:

Unlocking the Healing Power of Music

Participants explore their emotions and find comfort through the transformative power of sound. Engaging in Anchor Project activities like composing, playing instruments, or rhythmic expression helps release trauma-related feelings, guiding them toward a brighter future.

Healing Trauma through Dance and Movement

This workshop promotes rehabilitation through innovative therapies involving dance and movement. Expressing emotions non-verbally facilitates a powerful release, aiding in overcoming past wounds. Dancing fosters the mind-body connection and allows participants to safely explore their being in a supportive environment.

Connecting with the Medicine of the Elements

Exposure to natural environments helps reduce stress, improve physical activity, and strengthen the immune system. Nature enhances cognitive function, attention, and creativity, fostering environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility toward the natural world.
